In my role as a baby and family photographer in Harrogate, Yorkshire, one of the great joys is that I am able to have a little window into the lives of families when I have a shoot with them. Its always so special to witness the bonds that bind a family together, and to experience a family having fun together. Photographing these moments is such a great privilege, and it gives a real sense of pride that the images I capture will be treasured forever!
Back in Summer 2022, I really enjoyed one such session with this wonderful family! They had selected Harlow Carr Gardens in Harrogate as their venue of choice, as this was a special location for them as a family and somewhere they regularly spend time together. They had booked a full session, which gave us plenty of time to have a beautiful walk around the gardens together, and for us to capture the family, with particular emphasis on their three lovely children.
The family were keen for lots of shots of the children just playing in this environment. It was so beautiful to witness the loving and caring relationship they have with each other, and that also meant that photographic opportunities were not in short supply! The two older girls were so caring of their little brother, and they were keen to be photographed with him at every opportunity. We played lots of games together, and generally had a great day out!
They were also keen for a nice family portrait shot. These photographs are often high on the priority list for families, as its not always easy to get all the family members set up and facing the same direction at the same time (believe me, being a Daddy myself I know this first hand)! I was really happy with the results, using a few of my trusty techniques to get everyone looking and smiling at the same time!
Below I share a few of my favourite images from the session in Harrogate. If you are thinking of having your family or baby photographed, my advice would be to go for it! In future years you will be grateful for the investment now to have frozen these all-too-short moments in time.
